Please note that factory Apple CarPlay can ONLY be activated on the following iDrive headunit versions (late 2015 and newer);
- NBTevo ID4 (Requires flash update to ID5/6)
- NBTevo ID5
- NBTevo ID6
- EnavEvo (Headunit must have a WLAN port)

To check your headunit version: 
Go to Navigation > Press Options Button > Go to Settings > Go to Position & Version History > Check Version - You will see 'NBTEVO_XXXXX'

Alternatively, simply send through either your vehicle's VIN or Reg No. and we'll be able to confirm compatibility for you.

If your BMW isn't equipped with one of the above Evo based headunits, we can offer alternative options with adding Apple CarPlay to the majority of BMW models.

Note: This process can only activate Apple CarPlay. This cannot activate Android Auto as BMW did not support Android Auto until the introduction of MGU / ID7 found in the recent models of today such as the G20 3 Series. However we do offer alternative solutions for adding this so feel free to still get in touch if you’d be in pursuit of adding Android Auto to your BMW for all you Android users.

* Some vehicle models may require the installation of a WiFi / WLAN antenna if not already equipped which involves disassembly of the interior to access the WLAN port on the back of the headunit.

* Minimum software version for Apple CarPlay activation is 16-11-xxx / NBTevo_J. If your iDrive unit is running a version earlier to this, Apple CarPlay cannot be activated until a software update has been performed.

* Full screen CarPlay is only available on 'NBTevo_N' onwards (earlier versions will be limited to 2/3 view). A headunit software update will be required to enable full screen CarPlay which can be organised as an additional service.
