BMW NBTevo iDrive Firmware Version Update - Enable FULLSCREEN Apple CarPlay

Do you own a BMW which either had factory Apple CarPlay available from factory or perhaps you had it activated but found out that it only takes up 2/3 of the display instead of utilising the full display?

The reason behind this is due to the headunit's firmware version. To put it simply, only from a specific firmware version did BMW's support fullscreen Apple CarPlay - prior to that, NBTevo headunits only supported 2/3 view. The solution to this is to carry out an update to a later and newer version.

By doing this, we will unlock the full capabilities of the NBTevo headunit allowing for fullscreen Apple CarPlay which simply looks miles better when taking up the full display, not to also mention it'll make apps far easier to use and optimised such as navigation apps with the added display real-estate.

This process is carried out purely via coding using original BMW software and coding files with no physical hardware changes required meaning this is an OEM-grade upgrade. All original system menus, functions, service history and settings are 100% retained.

Note: This procedure is only applicable to NBTevo ID5/6 headunits which either have Apple CarPlay already activated or for those looking to have CarPlay activated and would like fullscreen support.

Updates on average take 45 to 60 minutes to carry out, as such we highly recommend that you either have a battery charger available (10 to 15A is suitable) to connect to the vehicle during the software update or a second vehicle with jumper leads.

Go to Navigation > Map > Press Options > Settings > Position and Version > Version Information
